"Pixels" was one of those movies I found myself becoming interested in. As someone who considers himself a video game fan, I was blown away by the pixelated versions of Donkey Kong and the like rampaging through a city. However, as I watched more of the movie trailer, I found myself less interested in seeing the film in question. With the power of advertising, though, could fleet graphics have made a difference? At the very least, it's something to think about.
I believe that fleet graphics could have helped somewhat, especially when considering the quality that they present. Companies like JMR Graphics will be able to agree, especially when considering how these high-quality vinyl wraps can help a number of companies. Much of this comes in the sharpness of the designs themselves, which I'm sure anyone who's seen these graphics can agree with. With this in mind, I'm curious if "Pixels" could have been helped on the advertising front.
Early on, I am sure that fleet graphics could have made a difference. "Pixels" was in the fortunate position of having numerous icons from video games show up on screen. Everyone from Pac-Man to the Space Invader aliens made their presences known, and they are icons which most people would immediately recognize. Wouldn't it make sense, then, for them to be implemented into said graphics? The long-term impact, more than anything else, leaves me curious.
Once "Pixels" was released in theaters, it did not take long for the film in question to be met with negative press across the board. Adam Sandler movies - or films featuring the actor in question - have been received poorly as of late, as it seems like his brand of comedy has struggled to gain positive press. The writing in "Pixels" has been subpar as well, which leads me to believe that no cast could make the film work. More than anything else, "Pixels" is an interesting visual piece that will be soon forgotten.
While it's difficult to believe that "Pixels" could have been helped by fleet graphics, in the long run, this isn't to say that other brands should overlook them. In fact, these wraps are nothing short of effective when they are designed well. Of course, the products and services illustrated must be accounted for as well. You want to present deals and opportunities for clients to be accountable for. If this is done, there will be no denying the impact associated with these very graphics.
