By Joseph Phillips

As a matter of fact, the first three years in the life of a child are usually important. This is the period when the brain is maturing and developing. It is also an important period for a child to learn to speak. However, Speech and Language Skills for Children develop best where the child is well exposed to sound, the sight, as well as a consistent exposure to the language and speech of others. When a child passes such a critical period without a good exposure to the language, the child finds it difficult to learn.

Language and speech development passes some stages and milestones before one becomes conversant with it. The first stage of communication is crying. When a child cries, the guardian or parent will bring food, company, comfort it and other activities.

However, the development of communication skills usually varies in children. Kids usually follow a natural timetable or progression to master languages. Through milestone checklist, health professionals and doctors can determine whether a child is progressing well or require extra help. The delay in communication kids may arise due to hearing loss or a disorder.

There are various activities that can be done to develop communication skills for your child. One this you can do is to be a good model for the kid. This will involve speaking clearly and slowly while facing your child. Whenever, a child says a sentence or a word incorrectly, you should repeat the words correctly to show you understand instead of telling the child to repeat it.

The first thing you need to do is to take the responsibility of being a role model. This means you must always be willing to teach the kid how to communicate speaking slowly when talking to him or her as well as speaking while facing him.

You also need to have some time specifically made for experience with the kid. This is because, the way you spend more time with the kid, the more the child is going to benefit. You are supposed to have a schedule that allows you to spend some minutes or some time with your child. Having undistracted experiences such as picture book study will help in making sure that the baby benefits.

It is also important to observe and comment when with your child. Whenever playing with the kid, keep commenting on what the child is doing. This will help the child to learn new vocabulary. Actually, you should always break the silence. On the other hand, let the child be the boss and lead the play. This helps to build self-confidence.

This will mean that the foundation of the child will have a problem. You are also required to make comments in regard to the activities that the baby does when both of you are playing. This helps the baby in learning new vocabularies. You are also required to allow the child to lead the game as it improves the self-confidence of the baby.
