Information Regarding Blue Pomeranian Puppies

By Melissa Roberts

The pomerian refer to one of the breeds of dogs that are classified under Spitz group of dogs. The shortened for Pom is often used when referring to Blue Pomeranian Puppies and dogs. The place of origin of the breed is the region located in north-east Germany and north-west Poland. This region of Central Europe is referred to as Pomeria region. These dogs are very small in size so that they are classified as toy dogs.

Poms are believed to have descended from the larger types of Spitz dogs. The German Spitz is believed to be the immediate ancestor of the poms. Some pet clubs classify poms as part of German Spitz. In fact, in some countries, they are referred to as dwarf spitz. The popularity of this breed has been fueled in large part by royal owners. For instance, in the 18th century, a pom was owned by Queen Victoria, something that made its global popularity rise.

From their physical nature, poms are small in size, weighing an estimated 1.9 to 3.5 kilograms. Whilst standing on their back they may register a height lying between 5 to 11 inches. They have firm built bodies with a highly textured coat on them. Their tails are flat and appear raised. On the neck, the outer coat forms a ruff around it. This feature is a common trait the breed is famous for. On their hindquarters, feathery hair forms a beautiful view.

Previously, poms mostly had white coats, with the exception of a few who had either black or brown coats. For example, the one owned by Queen Elizabeth had a brown coat. This coat color became fashionable in those years, especially the first years into the 19th century. Currently, they come in all sorts of colors. Such colors are orange, cream, white, brown and tan, brindle, sable, spotted, black, blue, black and tan, red, and brown. Also, a mixture of these mentioned colors exists.

In these modern times, the existence of poms is marked with many different colors. Some of these colors include orange, white, black, cream, orange, blue, tan, red, sable, brown and tan, spotted, and black and tan. The breed also has dogs with any mixture that can be formed by the colors.

Naturally, this breed is a lively one and enjoys playing much. Also, they are quite friendly to their owners. Unfortunately, in attempt to prove themselves, they are known to exhibit a certain level of aggression towards other dogs. They are also sensitive to changes in their environment. Normally, their barking is triggered by new stimuli. This may then develop into the unwarranted habit of barking.

A healthy Pomeranian has a life expectancy of 12 to 16 years. When regularly exercised and fed on a suitable diet then a person should expect then to develop a few health complications. For poms, part of proper care comprises mainly of grooming.
